After your quilt is quilted by a long arm quilter, do you put a binding on yourself. Never did this before!

I like to apply my own binding. Some LAQ will apply it for you for an additional charge.

Some will do it for you for an additional fee. They may just sew the binding on, or completely finish it. This needs to be discussed before you give them your quilt :D:D:D

When you get your quilt you must square it up first and cut off excess. Then do your binding. I generally cut off about 1-2 inches to square it up from the quilting process. I recommend to add extra inch or so to the last border for this reason. The LAQ can then quilt almost to the edge.

Thanks everyone. I am good at bindings.

I generally square it up when LA quilting for clients unless they dont want me to. I will also apply binding for clients if they request it. $25 for full, $35 for queen and $45 for king size.

If you are going to do your own, be sure to give your LA quilter good instructions about trimming/squaring based on your method of binding.
