I am new and need to know about the types and weight of thread for the long arm quilting machine ...Any suggestions would be appreciated...

I use the cheap thread from Thread Art. It's cotton, 40 weight, 3 ply. It comes in 2500 meter cones for less than $6. I use white, it comes in many other colors. This thread is not the highest quality ( has lint and the occasional knot) but I use lots, the price is right and it is strong. My Tin Lizzie likes it, I use the same in the top and bobbin.
There are many better brands of thread that cause less lint, I have to clean the bobbin area with each new bibbin. Every quilter (and their machine) has their favorite thread, my choice is cheap, strong and works for me.

I love Glide thread from Fil Tec. It's excellent for machine quilting. No knots, no lint, strong. I like all of FilTec threads. I also use Connecting Threads Essentials thread for machine quilting.

I have a hq sixteen and I use anything and everything with it, I have used embroidery thread, varigated thread, serger thread, small spools, what I am working on depends on what I use and the look that I would like.

Have you ever tried Clear Polyester? I understand you need to adjust your tensions?

Have you quilted with minkee on the back? If so, give me some suggestions as to how to handle this and not stretch it. Thanks
