I bought a A-1 recently and I am curious about robots; different kinds, costs and most importantly are there any that can be used with your home pc. I don't really want to buy another screen since I have 3 computors already.

I don't understand what you mean....can you show us a picture? Are you talking about the computer screen that does digitized designs?

Are you talking about the systems like the Compuquilter, Intelliquilter, and Statler? I've got a CQ coming, and you have to use a separate computer. Anti-virus software messes with it, so it is a totally stand-alone system.

...and you are going to LOVE your A1!!

I really don't know what I mean...LOL... Is there anything out there that you would use a memory stick downloaded from your pc?

An A-1 is one of the many brands of longarmig machines a robot is a system that can be added to the sewing head carriges or the heads themselves. via computer cables or wires and pulleys.

Birdie, I have an A-1 with an IntelliQuilter added to it. IQ is a tablet computer which attaches to the machine head. There is also a motor system that is added to the frame which is what 'pushes' the machine around. I've had it for about 2 years now and LOVE it! You can see a picture of it attached to my machine on my blog:

I believe all of the systems have to have a computer attached somehow to your machine - that becomes the 'brains' that knows where to move the machine to create the designs. Visit some of the companies websites for more info. Some of the better known systems are IntelliQuilter, CompuQuilter and Statler.
