Long Arm Thread Question
 

I was wondering if thread meant for long arms can be used on domestic machines for piecing.

You could. I prefer to use a thin cotton thread like MasterPiece from Superior Threads.

I use whatever is convenient ....but quality is important. Just be sure to use the correct needle for the thread and check your tension.

I'm considering trying Bottom Line in my bobbin. I use it all the time on the LA and love it. It's thin and you can get almost twice as much on a bobbin. Anyone else use it on their domestic machine?

i use many of the same threads with my domestic-and the long arm- if the thread works for what i am doing i use it- i often use bottom line in my bobbins- it is a fine thread and you get alot on a bobbin- so you don't have to change it so often. as long as it's not a coated hand quilting thread you can use it with your machines- the biggest difference in (needs) is---long arms go really really fast- some threads you may use successfully with your domestic will not work with the long arm because they will break often- due to the speed of the long-arm-

I agree with Shelley. Try it and see what YOU like. I buy the masterpiece in the big cones once a year. I usually only piece with grey. Saves rethreading when I have the urge to piece!

I use Maxi Lock on both machines. It's a thin thread yet very strong and doesn't leave a lot of lint in the bobbin area.

I use Signature cotton for my LA and on my DSMs all of them, they love it.
