Longarm machine

Just curious, how many of you own longarm machines that do not machine quilt professionally for others?

I only quilt for friends, family and myself. Most quilts are mine, I do about 8 to 10 for others. I also quilt for a local charity.

I to only quilt for myself. My sisters quilt theirs on my machine. Same for a couple friends

I'm the same as PaperPrincess. I have thought about starting quilting as a business but haven't taken the plunge.

I have a Tin Lizzie 18 & only do my own quilts. I am retired and do NOT want a job quilting for anyone else! I have done charity quilts a couple of times.

Mine is a midarm (Voyager 17 with Hinterberg stretch frame) that I bought used. The cost was manageable. If I ever win the lottery, I will upgrade to an Innova :) but in the meantime this setup is wonderful for me because I can finally finish my quilt tops! No matter what setup I have, I would not want to quilt for others commercially -- too much stress. My current setup is much more affordable than sending quilts out, plus it allows me to make better use of my existing sewing machine and fabric stash. My sister isn't fussy, so I quilt her tops for her as well as mine.

I have one - got it in June. For personal use only. So far I have only done one full size quilt and a baby quilt. I will use it more when I retire, but for now I am not worrying about how much or how little I use it. I bought in my price range - used, knowing I would only use it a little until retirement in a few years.

I bought a used one for myself. I can't justify a $10,000 price tag for a hobby.

Right now I only quilt for myself because I am learning and am not confident enough to do someone else's quilt. I would like to do some charity work though. I have a Nolting Fun Quilter.

I have a Viking 18x8 and I use it only for my use. I do let some family and friends use it and I do some charity quilts for others. Quilting is not my favorite thing to do, but I do like to meander my own quilts but would like to practice on detailing more. If I have a very special quilt (Dear Jane) I do send it to a professional quilter as I don't feel I can do it justice and I am OK with that.
