Longarm modification??
 

I had seen posted somewhere about someone sending their longarm to a place either in Arizona or Nevada (maybe even New Mexico?) for an upgrade. The cost was @ $2500. I have a QueenQuilter18 that I would like to do this to, but can't find the information. Does anyone know of this place? I believe that the person that did this lived in Southern California because I remember it wasn't all that far from them to ship to this shop.

I think it is Wow quilts. They originally were in Nevada but have relocated to Oklahoma. I bought my 1st longarm from them and was very pleased with their service. I have since upgraded to a Gammill, but I would highly recommend them. Just google them.

I just read some disturbing news about one customers experience with them. Check them out really well before you ship your sewing machine off to them. Have you checked Bailey's? They sell stretched machines. Might be an affordable way to go and won't require giving up what you already have.

What kind of modification are you talking about? When I was looking for a long arm, I looked into having a machine stretched. There was only one company that did this and they would take your domestic machine and stretch it. Don't think they would extend a long arm. Their website is gone and as alleoop1 said, all I could find were negative posts. I think I would look at trading in your long arm for a different machine.

I would be reluctant to send a sewing machine anywhere. If I wanted a long arm, I would just buy one.

Modifications are typically specific to the brand of machine you have. There is currently a mod in that price range available for the Voyager 17. I have not seen any mods available for the QueenQuilter.

Edit: Okay, I found the people who do the mods on the Voyager. Turns out they have mods for quite a few machines, including the QueenQuilter. These people, the Dekkers, get very good reviews from the Voyager customers who have gotten mods from them, and they have one or more Youtube videos. I don't know if they are in CA, but here is their website:

I guess I wasn't too specific in the original post. The modifications I saw were to upgrade it to a more newer machine, including the electronic portions. i.e. cruise, one stitch ability, new handles that look like the Tin Lizzie ESP's. I think they may have also painted them to a different color too. Just can't remember who they were. QueenQuilter is a Tin Lizzie, just without the bells & whistles.

At the estimated price you are starting with ... it looks like a lot of $ to me.
Would you not be better to trade (or sell) your current machine?
... and upgrade to what you really want?
