I have a Civil War quilt ready to be sent to the longarm quilter. I would like to have simple quilt patterns stitched on it but don't know what would be best as I don't know what patterns would be authentic to the period. Has anyone quilted a CW quilt and what patterns did you use?

A meander always looks good on Civil War quilts.

The Baptist fan was popular too on those quilts.

Baptist fan gets my vote, too.

Yes, Baptist fan jumped to my mind as well.

Seems like Baptist fan has the vote! How did it come about that name? Thanks for your help everyone.

A meander would never have been used on a CW quilt. It's actually a very modern design. I'd go with a Baptist fan or the Methodist pattern and I don't remember what it is right now.

look at catalog from www.quiltingstencils.com there are several there that were taken from antique quilts especially in the mid 1800's time period.
