Longarm quilting question
 

Yesterday I went to a local APQS store (the lady owns & sell)
the APQS machines.

She also rents time to use her machines, or you can have her
to do all the quilting. She has one of EACH machine that she
uses to quilt on.

What I want to know about is if .02 per inch of simple edge to
edge a good price?

It seems to be the going rate in my area and the online places that I've checked.

.015 to .02 is common for basic stitching. I charge .02 psi.

The quilt shop near me had a beginning quilting class that included quilting on a long arm. Even though we were all
first time users, we were all very happy with the results . It was so much fun and the staff was so great I have been
renting time for other quilts. You might like to give it a try! They did have us practice on newspapers or a chalk board
to get the feel of stippling and loops.

In the midwest 11/2 to 2 cents per sq inch for edged-to-edge or pantos is average, 2 1/2 -3 for border to border (borders done differently) and upwards for custom.

I am retired and do not depend on my longarm quilting for my living expense so mine is mostly a hobby....that being said I ask for .01 for simple edge to edge and .015 for a dense pattern.

So for someone that needs a profit then .02 is not too much. But there is a lot of difference between .01 and .02.. a quilt 100x100 would be $100 at .01 and it would be $200 at .02.

I am in Central CA and I understand the So. CA is more expensive.
