What is the difference between regular sewing machine quilting and longarm quilting?
I am thinking about saving up for a longarm - a gammill. It would be at least 10 or so years  , and what I'm asking is, Do any of you have a long arm, if so what is your experience with it? Also, what is the price range?
Thanks
Emily

I would visit a quilt show. I went to the Madison, WI quilt show and tested out as many long arms as I could. The one I liked best was http://apqs.com/ It stopped on a dime, the variable speed was unbeleivable and there are different price options. You can even find one that is used by getting on a list for one that comes back from a quilt show that is essentially brand new other than the use at the show.

I don't have a long arm but hope to be getting one within the next couple of years. I'll be buying something like the Bailey or the Tin Lizzie though, the Gammills are way too expensive for me. Around $32,000 without all the bells and whistles. I don't plan on having to go into business to be able to afford buying a Gammill. But if you can afford it, I say go for it.
