How many quilt group on the internet are there. What ones are good ones to belong to.

Rose Hall 12-16-2009 06:25 AM

I agree. I have joined several, but let my membership lapse because I thought they were boring!!!
This group is NEVER boring.

There are lots of good ones out there, as any Google search will reveal, but I don't think we should use space on this one to advertise the competition!

sorry, but rules were clearly posted.

i looked at several and found that this one is the easiest to use, the ppl are all friendly and you can join in on any swap that we have(not all sites let you do that). i haven't been disappointed in this forum at all!!! I'll never join any others!!

Esqmommy 12-16-2009 06:50 AM

This is the only one I know about...when you've got the best, no need to go looking elsewhere! Works in marriage...and for quilting boards!!

DITTO!!

Mamagus 12-16-2009 07:07 AM

I have tried a few since joining here and I felt like I was a cheating wife!! I gave them up and came back to where I love to be!

Bevanger 12-16-2009 07:11 AM

I haven't tried one I really liked except this one. Everyone is like my family here

foxxigrani 12-16-2009 07:26 AM

True, I belong to a few also, but this is my favorite. Its easy to read, there is always something new going on, not just the same boring subjects and the people are so friendly and helpful.

Rita

ranger 12-16-2009 07:53 AM

This one is my favorite. I looked at some others but,for me, this one is the best. It has something new every day and everyone is friendly and helpful. Plus, the administration gives everyone a chance to voice opinions/suggestions.

ranger 12-16-2009 07:54 AM

 posted twice. Sorry.

Dancing Needle 12-16-2009 07:56 AM

Why bother looking when you've found the best!

nativetexan 12-16-2009 07:59 AM

Oh good grief. lots. yahoo has tons. delphiforums.com too
hgtv has quilting and needlework group
quilting-addicts.com
bhg.com has one
about.com has one
so many others are out there I'm sure.

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 12-16-2009 08:36 AM

I tried one other one. Everyone on it was nice but it was just too small and too slow. This group is so huge answers to questions come quickly -- even at 2 a.m.!

I really see no need for another group and have quit even looking at other group sites. The longer I'm on here the more I feel like I actually know the regulars. :)

ScubaK 12-16-2009 08:45 AM

I think that this is the best one out there! I don't even look at any others anymore!
Kirsten

beckyw 12-16-2009 09:05 AM

I havn't found any that are as nice as this one.

I agree... No others are as active and supportive of each other.. This group is the best...

Katrine 12-16-2009 10:08 AM

Yahoo has loads, but nothing to touch this Board!

Sandy1951 12-16-2009 01:16 PM

A while back I joined a different group associated with an online fabric store. It was pretty new, so there weren't many members. The ones who posted regularly (and the ones who didn't, for that matter) were wonderful people and I loved getting to know them. It wasn't anything like this forum, though, because there simply weren't enough members. I got sidetracked with life issues and stopped posting, although I didn't stop reading. I still felt part of the group and felt like they were my friends, even though I wasn't participating. I'd think of things to share with them in response to what they were sharing, but didn't actually post due the depression and other crap that was happening in my life. I looked forward to the day when I'd actually rejoin them.

The group of active posters dwindled down to four. I set a date to start posting again, when suddenly they all disappeared. They were gone! No one was posting. Finally I posted and asked where everyone went. One of the four replied and said since they had become such a small group and no one else was active, she emailed the moderator, who was also the online shop owner, and asked if she planned to continue the forum. She said the four of them thought they would simply email each other since no one else was posting and they had become so close. The moderator said she'd keep it going for a while, but wasn't going to post herself, but start a blog. She encouraged them to do what they wanted. Since one of the four was having marital problems and didn't feel comfortable sharing personal info on such a public forum, they opted to email each other. The forum was like this one, anyone can read it, but only members can post.

The one who responded to me said they thought I'd quit, which I totally understood, since I hadn't been posting. She told me to post and they'd respond, but she didn't ask me to join them in their email group. I felt hurt, even though it was my own fault. It was funny, I felt so close to them from reading their posts, yet they, of course, didn't feel close to me since I was simply lurking. Shortly after, the other three posted and welcomed me to join them, but by then I'd decided to find another forum, hopefully a larger one.

I found one that was large and active, but I didn't like the way it was set up. Then I stumbled across the QB and immediately felt comfortable here.

I don't know what the moral of this story is. Don't post and you lose? If you don't share, how do they know you want to be their friend? :| Anyway, whatever it is, I'm glad to be here! :-D

(Although I do wonder what's going on in their lives...)

zennia 12-16-2009 01:45 PM

I have belonged to several but if you really need ideas or HELP this is the best place to find it.

I agree. Every once in awhile I get a notice from a different online group but I tend to ignore them. I love the people here and even if we don't all do the same things the same way, no one gets nasty about it. The Quilt Police all seem to be on other boards, which works fine with me.

amma 12-16-2009 04:10 PM

This was the first board that I ever joined, and have not looked for another...this was home :D:D:D
I have popped into a few others that have come up during searches...looked around but the feel is not the same.

MollieSue 12-16-2009 06:57 PM

This was the first group I found, and never looked for another! lol!!! I honestly don't think a better one could be found!
:) :)

KBunn 12-16-2009 07:31 PM

This is the first quilt board I joined...there is so much to see and read and such wonderful people that I never needed to keep looking

tigger5464 12-16-2009 07:45 PM

IMHO....this is the first group that I have joined and am totally and utterly satisfied. I had joined another at one time, but no one ever responded to any questions that I posted. There were never any swaps or anything like that so....I am here and here I will stay until someone boots me out.

earthwalker 12-16-2009 09:32 PM

I checked out a few, but I don't like to join and then bail out. I looked or is that lurked! here for a couple of weeks and decided this was the place I wanted to be. I think the people here are very inclusive and kind. I learn something each time I visit here, am inspired by all the wonderful pictures that are posted and as a "lone quilter" enjoy the fellowship of people just as "quilt-crazed" as I am. Most importantly....people of all skill levels and "styles" can come here and be a part of things, as Bev said, it's like family.

kluedesigns 12-16-2009 10:30 PM

i've started to branch out to other forums.

littlehud 12-16-2009 10:54 PM

This is the one I love and will stay with.
