I just opened a package from my daughter who lives in Australia. She sent me 1 1/2 yards of this beautiful cotton fabric! I am so excited. I need suggestions on what to do with it! Maybe a quilted wall hanging???? What do you think?

what ever you do it will be beautiful....cannot wait to see the finished project....

Very beautiful, a wall hanging ,or if you want a large quilt carefully cut out the blocks and frame them with nice colors.

It is so beautiful I would be afraid to cut it. I guess I would make a wall hanging, but I have no other ideas

I just finished a quilt top from "9-Patch Pizazz" that used some large blocks. It's so pretty, maybe use it as a border.

FANtaustric!
I'd make some into a big purse/ tote bag. Maybe a pillowcase, but not sure I'd want to lay my head on some of those critters!

That is awesome! When I get fabric like this, I hate to cut it up cause there is only so much. I would be half tempred to take a big piece and use it as the center of a wallhanging!

I see some fussy cutting in your project. Great fabric.

It could also be the center panel for a quilt, using borders and fabric to enlarge it to a lap or twin size. A quilted wall hanging would be lovely, too!

Large tote bag.

gorgeous fabric! Whatever you do it will be beautiful and you will always think of your DD when you look at it.

I really like that fabric. Enjoy!

beautiful fabric, a wall hanging would be pretty to hang in your sewing room, have fun and be creative

running1 05-09-2011 04:42 PM

That will be fun to play with, whatever you decide!!

bearisgray 05-09-2011 04:43 PM

I would probably add it to my stash and pet it so often.

Next choice - leave it whole - frame it with borders, and quilt "on the lines" around each "picture"

PurplePassion 05-09-2011 09:29 PM

A tote bag!

montanajan 05-09-2011 11:48 PM

I'd probably use a large portion for the center of a wall hanging, then make a large tote bag with more of it - love the fabric!

Love the fabric!

It's gorgeous. It really says Australia, doesn't it?

Well here's the thing, I have an Australian son-in-law and a Chinese daughter-in-law. She wants me to get some Asian or Chinese fabric like the Australian fabric along with some red, white and blue American themed fabric and make a multicultural family quilt. Have you ever seen one like that?

Tartan 05-10-2011 07:22 AM

There is a pattern that looks like postcards across a quilt. I've seen some on the quiltingboard in Pictures. I would use part of your wonderful fabric in a quilt like that to maximize it's pizzazz. Maybe if your search postcard quilts you can find some samples. Great fabric!

What ever you do, dont cut it!!LOL. Too beautiful. Do a cheater's or a whole cloth quilt.
