Looking for a Bargello tutorial or good book

I got such inspiration this morning looking online at some quilts a lady has done by piecing from sections of bargellos. I will have to go back and see if I can find in my history where I saw these but I am really interested in learning how to make bargellos now - i think it's just the technique I need to figure out (not the specific designs even tho I'll probably make a "traditional" one to hone those skills).
Do you have any words of wisdom for links, tuts, books, etc on learning to make Bargellos?
Thanks in advance!

Bargello Quilts by Marge Eide is a good basic book. (the main book featured on the page below. There are several others advertised on the page, too.)

http://www.amazon.com/Bargello-Quilt.../dp/1564770672

It describes how to make simple bargellos, and shows photos of more complicated bargellos, but does not describe how to make them. In the back there are pages to copy to design your own bargello quilts. They're striped lines, shaded dark to light then dark again repeating the pattern. You could do the same with graph paper. I haven't tried to figure out how to design a bargello in EQ.

A trip around the world quilt is a simple mirrored bargello with 2 planes of symmetry.

The BEST beginners book is called The Bargello Book by Piecemakers. I has the simple quilt with sizes for a wall (which can also be made as a lap), Twin, Double, Queen and King. Excellent instruction and charts for a beginner. Cost is under $10.00 plus you could find it cheaper on eBay. See them available most of the time. Good Luck !!

Thanks to both of you! Going to start looking and get one so I can build this quilt before it gets jumbled in my mind :) I appreciate it!

There's a free pattern over at Craftsy for a small one. You could try it and see if you like it. You could always use it as a wall hanging or a baby quilt.

It's called My Lil Bargello, scroll down the page till you see it:

Bonnie Hunter has a free scrappy bargello on her website, www.quiltville.com.

Got the fabric, got the pattern - don't have the nerve to start it yet. Post pics, hopefully it will get me in gear and take that first cut :)

Bargellos are not hard, but it is a project you can't be in a hurry to do and you need to muster your organizational skills. Labeling and double checking your pattern and your strips frequently prevents errors, and of course alternating your sewing direction (top to bottom then bottom to top) will help keep everything straight and square. They are beautiful and give a great feeling of accomplishment. Enjoy!
