I would use 4 I inches of the blue and purple floral fabric you use din some of the blocks.

I really like it too. If it needs a border for size, I would go with the darder purple or the darkest blue, depending on who it's for.

Ditto. It's just right.

I would use the dark purple if was my quilt. OK, I went back to look at the photo again and I changed my mind slightly. Still purple but the not the darkest nor the one with the distinctive white print. The medium purple or the slightly darker purple. I think now that the darkest purple would be to "heavy" for the border. Happy quilting!

Again, thanks for all the good suggestions. I ended up not having enough of any of the purples for the borders, so I spent a lot of time auditioning fabrics and finally ended up with this one. I think it looks good. (I really wanted to stick to my stash, plus I couldn't remember where I had purchased the purples....and there probably wouldn't be any more anyway...)

So, here is what I ended up selecting. I just finished sandwiching it and am off to quilt. :)

I agree with Tartan. Do the "filmstrip" look, another narrow white border, then a solid colored border.

I might do a border with the "filmstrip" look. Little squares of the jewel tone colours separated with equal size white squares all the way around the quilt and then a solid border. It is pretty the way it us now also.

Okay, I was going to echo the "no border" comment, but now that I've looked at the picture of your finished quilt, that border really sets off the inner sashing and blocks. Looks great!

It is beautiful, no boarders unless you need it bigger.
