looking for Christmas-y Dogs
I am going to make a quilt (throw sized, because its hard to FMQ anything bigger very nicely) as a raffle item to help raise money for a friend who is an instructor at a local dog training facility. Since we are "doggie people" and we will raffle it around Christmas (early January) I was thinking a doggie themed pattern with Christmas fabric, or even a doggie and Christmas pattern.
Does anyone know of acute pattern? I am Googling but wondered if anyone had a pattern they knew and liked? |
There are patterns out there for scotties with bows. I've seen it done for Christmas with b&w scotties and red or red plaid bows. This was very popular in the 50's. Here's a pattern but there's lots out there:

Very cute! I am hoping to find a more "generic" dog to appeal to as many people in general...

most of the fabric stores have puppys and kitten themed fabric with Christmas trees and bows and presents....JoAnns, Hancocks, Walmart etc.

This is applique so it may not suit, but you could build a lap quilt around this as the centre maybe:

I love these ones by Amy Bradley, here's a free one, not really "generic" looking though.http://www.amybradleydesigns.com/baxter.html
looks like we were typing at the same time..... |
You might try fat cat patterns: http://www.fatcatpatterns.com/PDFs/2...icoFriends.pdf
You can always use Christmas fabric for the background. Or, browse the fabric stores for dog fabric - I know Joann's has some with lots of dogs on it. You could make a Warm Wishes quilt. I have also seen paw print fabric there. Is there any reason it needs to be Christmas fabric? If you use non season fabric it would look good all year round. You should really check out the cute fabric at Joann's. |
This is cute and could use any fabrics you like

I used a Cozy Quilt pattern (http://www.cozyquilt.com/Aspx/Produc...?productID=458) and simply used all dog fabrics, including a black-on-black paw print for the dark strips. It worked really well.
