Looking for comments on using Fireside fleece as a quilt backing and how to order it?

I am interested in trying fireside fleece for a quilt backing I googled the words, fireside fleece and was brought to a link for tips to quilt using it for a backing here: http://hamelsthread.com/tuesday-tip-...eside-backing/

I didn't see how I could order the fleece from the shop. Does anyone use fireside fleece and where do you purchase it please?

I don't know how you would order. This only gives for full bolts. https://www.hamelsfabrics.com/module...hSubmit=Search Do you specifically want to order from this shop? If not, just do a search for fireside fleece and you should have other shops come up.

Try Mr. Google, using “Fireside fabric by Moda”. It stretches—a lot! If you choose to use, use both pins and basting spray. Because it is textured, the quilting seems to disappear, so try a heavier thread. In online stores, runs $20-25 a yard, but you don’t need backing. Think of it as adult minkee.

Hamels is in BC Canada. If you are in the US you will save about 25% or more on the prices due to the difference in exchange rates.

https://www.hamelsfabrics.com/module...cking&paging=6 The Fireside by the Metre starts on page 8 or 9. It is $19.98/m, which is about 40 inches, a bit longer than a yard.

I have been a happy customer of Hamel's Fabric. They come to the local sewing show as well I have ordered scissors from them in the past.

I've only just started quilting, but so far I've made 4 quilts with fireside on the back, and included batting also. Three of them were queen sized and one throw sized. There are pictures in my album. I really love how cozy the quilt is. It is bulkier to quilt on my DSM but I have an 11" throat so I've managed. I don't spray baste, only lots of pins. The pins are a little bit harder to push through than with cotton on the back. For the queen sized I seamed the pieces across the width (since it is 60" wide) with a 1" seam allowance so that it lays flat. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I purchase my fireside locally since it is carried in a number of the LQS here around Calgary, Alberta.

I love how Fireside fleece quilts - I didn't find it stretched at all. It makes a heavier than usual quilt, but we like heavy quilts. My son loves the one I made for him with it as backing.

Copycat, it looks like the link you gave is for their blog. Click on 'Our Shop' and then put 'fireside' in the search bar. That will take you to the actual fabric where you can click on your preferred colour which will also show the order info.

Thank you MariaM and the others who have given me insight into fireside fleece. I will go to the Our shop section.
I checked out the Moda fireside, but it isn't the exact same fleece.

Does anyone use Moda's fleece or have a favorite fleece brand? IF so, please share the name of it and where you can purchase it.

As always, Many thanks for sharing your advice with me!

Their store is either down today or waiting to be created. I was able to find this page, which gives you prices and a phone number. I didn't see a way to order it online. You can call, though.

I buy my fireside at my local quilting shop, The Gathering Place in Rupert, ID. Think they have a facebook page and you can always google their name.

Thank you ! I tried the blog for the Gathering Place and it was down. I don't have a Facebook acct, so I couldn't see their info.
Does The Gathering Place sell their fabric online? I didn't find a website when I looked, only the physical store.
I would prefer ordering in the US to avoid the higher shipping cost from Canada. If the store has an online shop, please share the link. thanks again
