I've found some with pink ribbons and some with teal but there are so many other cancers out there with corresponding colors.
After my diagnosis, I would really like to make some pillowcases and lap quilts but hate to be limited to just breast cancer and ovarian. Any places I can look? I have googled but not finding much. Thanks! |
The only other "ribbon" fabrics I've ever seen are red, purple, and yellow. We have the red, in our shop. If yellow will work for you, then you might try checking in with "patriotic/military" fabrics. I'm not sure the purple is in print anymore. It was by P&B textiles.

Would love to find purple or lavendar since it's supposed to be all cancers. What is the red for? (I'm thinking heart disease..) |
My mom has Multiple Myleoma, and it's color is burgandy, and I've looked and looked and I can't find any fabric with burgandy ribbons on it.
I did find dark and light burgandy "cure for cancer" fabrics, and I think they were from Northcott... I can't remember, and when I go to look for them they are not there, just breast and ovarian cancers. I think these fabrics were a few years old as well, because this store stocks only older fabrics. Good Luck in your search! Theresa |
might just have to embroidery your color on contrasting background color to get the satisfactory effect. I wish y'all luck. I cut real ribbon I found at JoAnn's for a cancer quilt I made for a darling little girl with Leukemia. I didn't realize there were colors until I bought one of the Society's bracelets and it had a card in it saying each colored bead represented different cancers. So, I hope that the little girl enjoyed the one I made. I just cut and twirled that little pink ribbon and put them all over her nine patch - nine block quilt. You know when you do something with a purpose you put more effort in it. Sometimes I think it means more to me than to the person it is intended for. sigh, there goes that dangling participle again, follows me everywhere.

Still looking without much success. I did find some backing fabric that is a little different. Would it be okay to use backing fabric (from a good manufacturer) on the front? I'm not trying to be cheap, just trying to find a variety of prints that would allow me to make some interesting lap quilts.

Red ribbons are for Aids awareness, or "say no to drugs".
