Is it worth the money???

I purchased EQ7 a few weeks ago and absolutely love it. I had never had it before and there were a couple of quilts I wanted to work. I had before spent lots of time with graph paper and paper and pencil, but when I had the opportunity to get EQ7 at a really great price, I decided to try it. I spent a couple of nights watching the videos and reading the pdf help files and was amazed at how easily I have been able to design blocks and quilts. My favorite thing, I think so far, is how it adjusts the borders when you change sizes. That was always difficult for me to figure out pieced borders so they ended up looking good at the corners. I am right now in the process of learning how to draft blocks with circles and haven't quite got that mastered yet, but I'm hopeful.

Thank you for the feedback. From what I have read and from what you have told me it will let you design your own quilt blocks. Will it also design the actual quilting on a quilt?

I have EQ6 and love it. If buying today, I'd buy the EQ7 just to have all the features, but don't feel the need to upgrade what I have.
It's a great way to "think" about quilts. I can import a picture and build a quilt around it, scan fabrics and test run them in blocks...well, all kinds of things. I can also design quilting patterns, lay them on my quilt and test different colours of thread. The program has more capacity than I'm capable of using.

It comes with a quilting library already with it. I'm sure there is a way of putting your own design in, but haven't figured that one out yet. Why not call EQ and speak with customer service. They're very nice and informative. They probably could answer ANY question. :-D :-D Very nice individuals!!

I use my EQ6 constantly, and I will be downloading EQ7 this week and I am excited over all of the extra features :D:D:D

One important difference to consider-EQ6 has a limited number of activations. When they are all gone, you have to pay for more. EQ7 is not so limited-it can only be activated on 2 computers at a time but it can be deactivated if you get a new computer or if you have to format your drive or something and then reactivated.

I finally splurged and got EQ6 and I loved it so much I updated to EQ7. It's lots of fun to play with. I've designed a number of quilts including my avatar. And I feel I'm learning about color and patterns just by playing with the designs. I used pencil and graph paper prior to getting the software. This is much easier cause you can change the design without re-drawing and save all your design options so you can compare them. I'd say go for it but don't get discouraged if it takes a while to learn. Just follow the lessons. Also the reference manual is one of the best I've seen.

If you can afford to buy it then get it and don't worry about if you will use it or not. It will be there when you think you want to use it and you'll be glad you have it. I quit stressing over if I need something or if I will ever use it. It's there, I like it, I can pay for it, it's mine.

I have EQ 6 and love it. It was worth every penny.
