Looking for help selecting borders....
3 Attachment(s)
I am trying to decide which of three borders would look best. Which do you prefer? (I have played with about 30 different ideas and have it down to these three.) This is a block of the month that I am ready to finish. (I thought perhaps that doing a block of the month would teach me patience. It hasn't. :) )
Thanks for any opinions. Dina |
I like the blue, but you do what you like. Either one would work.
I like the blue as well.
I like the red but would like a small inner border of the floral print ... or vice versa.
I'll be different, I love the blue but would add a tiny flange type red insert between the blue and the white. JMT. :)
I like the blue. I'm not a red person, but the red along looks good, too. I don't like the 2 colors together. Maybe a little red plus a blue border would be good.
I like the last option - white, then blue, then red.
My first choice would be picture #3 and second choice would be picture #1. Beautiful sampler
I also like option 3 the best. But where is the quilt going? If you are gifting it to a particular person, that might help you make a decision. All three borders look great, so I think its more of a personal taste problem.

Thanks, everyone, for your opinions. I haven't made any final decisions yet. Got to sleep on it, at least. :) Dina |
I would make a wide white border (background fabric) and bind in either the red or blue.
I vote for the 3rd picture but any of them would look nice. Pretty blocks!
I vote for #3
I love #3! My second choice would be the red. :)
Beautiful quilt! How about a narrow red with a wider blue outside? The red would act as a "stop" and the blue would then accent the blue in your blocks.
Your blocks always have such clean lines--bravo! |
I vote for the blue!
I like the red. I,m a "love red person", but the blue is pretty too. I,m a big help, right?
How about a red (or blue) flange, then a narrow cream border, then a wide blue (or red) border.
I like the last one.
i like the third one

I like the red. Makes it "pop".
I like #3 though they all look good.
I like example #3.
I love red, so I would do a narrow blue (or floral print) and then wider red. I always try to keep my inner border from "touching" in same fabric in the block so it may mean flipping some blocks or moving their placement in the quilt (that is just an OCD thing that I do)
Well, I am leaning towards the third one. My next step is to decide how wide to make each border. Sort of depends on how much fabric I have, as I would like to bind in the same fabric that the last border is.
Thanks for all the input! Dina |
Picture #3

I vote for white, then skinny red flange, then the blue. If you had enough of the floral then, instead of the blue do the floral.
Any way you do it, it looks nice! Good Luck, Cat |
I really like the combination but might tend to make the red the wider border depending on where I wanted to use the quilt.
Looking forward to seeing what you do. :)

Have you tried a smaller border of red, followed by a wider border of blue? Red for 'pop', then blue to calm things down.
love the 3rd one, red a nice touch

Love your quilt and I just had to play with it. Does this appeal?

As a donation quilt, I'd go with the only the blue border. The blue border would make the quilt very PRETTY! Any of the suggested borders you chose will work PERFECTLY!!! Nan |
Oooooh... Like Gay's idea too!
