At a craft sale I saw some hot pads made from shoulder pads. Has anyone made them before? I was thinking that it should be covered with insulbrite and then the pretty fabric. Usually I am a lurker and enjoy all your hints , thanks in advance Cher in Victoria

The only shoulder pads I've ever had were made from a kind of foam rubber on the inside. I don't think they'd make very good hot pads at all. I just use two layers of the medium weight of Quilter's Dream.

Well, thru trial and a lot of error, I think I have this figured out. Sew the insulbrite around the pad. but not tightly. Cover with your fun fabric and then sew the centre down with a a few lines of sewing. Then do the h - word and sew the ends closed. You may have figured that I don't enjoy hand sewing.Needless to say this will need some perfection, the ones in the craft fair were great, I should have bought one to take a part and disect properly. The ones at the sale had 2 fabrics which may make a difference in how to sew, I have been using one fabric. Sorry to be thinking out loud here. If anyone tries this out, please let me know how it turns out. Cher
