There is a site that gives you fabric to make quilts. I deleted the link. Does anyone have the link. I believe it was a children's hospital.

Did you try to google it ? You might remember it when you see it. :-)

Are you thinking of Downy quilts for kids. They will send you kits to make quilts.

I think I just read something in one of my quilt magazines lately. I think the site is Quilt for Kids. They send you the fabric to make a quilt & than send it back. Not sure of the exact link, but I will research and it on if I find it.

Not sure if it is what you were looking at before, but Quilts for Kids will send you a kit to make a charity quilt. All you provide is the batting and binding.

Is it a certain pattern you have to make? Or can you just make one of your choice? This is a cool idea. And do they have to be a certain size? I did see that you buy the batting and binding yourself and pay to ship it back.

They have patterns and recommended sizes on their website. They also accept quilts not made from their kits. I plan on completing my kit and then doing another from my stash and sending them back together.

Project Linus????

carolaug 01-24-2011 02:19 PM

Project Linus is a national non- profit organization that provides security through a blanket to seriously ill, traumatized or medically fragile children ages 0-18, who may be experiencing a traumatic period in their lives. Volunteers, known as "blanketeers", make new handmade blankets. All styles of blankets are welcome, including quilts, tied comforters, fleece blankets, crocheted or knitted afghans, and receiving blankets in child friendly colors.
The local chapter of Project Linus has been in exis- tence for a year and one-half and has distributed over 800 blankets to children. In response to September 11, the chapter donated 1,000 blankets. The National project required a total of 10,000 blankets for the children affected by 9/11.
President of Project Linus, Persephone Agrafiotis, who is also a past president of Epsilon Tau Chapter accepted chapter member donations of gift certificates to Staples, knit blankets, yarn, office supplies, materials for quilts and many other useful items.
If you would like further information about this won- derful community service, you may e-mail at [email protected] or send inquires to Project Linus, P.O. Box 5621 Bloomington, IL 61702-5621.
