Looking For A Joyous Celebration
I love this pattern and it is called A Joyous Celebration http://quilting.about.com/od/quiltpa...yous_quilt.htm. This is a free pattern on About Home and makes a 4" block only. Would anyone have the pattern in an 8"or even 10"? Sure would like to make a nice lap size or bed size quilt with it

It's just sawtooth star blocks alternated with snowball blocks. This site will tell you how to make different size sawtooth star blocks - http://www.heyquilty.com/content_dow...G_Sawtooth.pdf

It looks like you could easily make it larger by using a larger star block and then match up the snowball blocks with that size. Look in Quilters Cache for the star in different sizes.

Thank you ladies!

If you analyze the star block you will see it is a 4 block square, 16 patch. This is a fairly easy pattern to change sizes on.
For an 8 inch block, the center would be a finished 4 inch, with each of the other sections being 2 inches each. 10" squares are a bit more complex, because each section is 2.5 inches finished, with the center being a 5 inch finished square. All very doable. 12" squares would be a 6 inch finished square for the center and 3 inch sections for the other parts. Hope this is clear and helpful. |
If you enlarge the blocks to 8" finished, make sure your snowball corners match the corner square of the sawtooth block which would be 2" finished. I wouldn't recommend 10" because the sawtooth is usually divisible by 4 to keep round numbers for piecing but it CAN be done.

10 divided by 4 is 2.5 .... not that hard to work with! |
