Looking for kitchen themed PIECED block patterns
I want to make a wall hanging for my kitchen with designs like bowls, cups, dishes, etc but I don't like paper piecing or applique. Does anyone know of a pattern with kitchen themed designs that is made with regular piecing rather than pp? thanks!

I think Lori Holt at Bee in My Bonnet has kitchen themed patterns - she has a book called "Quilty Fun" that has a sampler quilt with kitchen theme and several other quilts using the same theme. Check it out. Just go to Bee in my Bonnet BlogSpot. Also she has her book on Fat Quarter Shop.

I have the quilty fun book. The only kitchen theme blocks are apples and coffee cups. She has one called vintage dishes or something like that but it's really just teacups and dishes (which are like snowball blocks). I may have to resort to paper piecing. UGH. lol

Indeed, if you go to Lori Holt's site and look under the My Patterns tab, she has an Etsy shop. There are a couple of patterns there that might work, Apron Club and Grandma's Kitchen at $24.00? You might think that 's a bit pricey but her patterns are soooo worth it. Easy to piece and understand with lots of visual impact. I tried to add a link but for some reason it won't work www.beeinmybonnetco.blogspot.com/

Thanks. Both of those are all applique. I think I'll make do with what is in the Quilty Fun book and the Mixing it Up pattern that I already own. I guess it doesn't have to be ALL kitchen themed blocks.

I Googled "paper pieced quilted kitchen tools" and there are a zillion images out there. Ok...not a zillion - but a bunch - many of them on Craftsy.
Good luck. |
You are right! The pictures are tiny so I didn't realize they were appliqué. I think her pattern Mixing it Up is pieced? There are free pieced mug patterns also on the net that would be cute for a kitchen.

Quilt in a Day has a couple in the Quilts from El's kitchen pattern.
Skim these videos. I believe you will find an apron and a cup and saucer. I have made entire quilts from watching Quilt in a Day videos so there should be plenty of instruction there. http://www.quiltinaday.com/theater/k...kitchen1.shtml |
I would suggest the Broken Dishes block, but that might be inviting trouble! :)

Here is a cute one of bowls but it is appliqued

How about this years BOM from Sulky?
http://www.sulky-international.de/sc...p?seite_id=332 Although it is applique and probably not "technically" classified as "kitchen", it might suit you. |

It's amazing all the paper pieced patterns for kitchens... I should get busy & make some of the fun ones! Sorry still not able to find one that's not paper pieced or appliquéd for you though. Do you have EQ?

Oh, oh, here's one:

I think there were some in Quiltmakers 100 blocks magazines. Sorry I can't check for sure as I'm not at home. I thought there were some- not sure of the method either.

I've never tried it, but I guess you could take a paper pieced pattern & break it down into template shapes & add your ¼" seam allowance around each piece, would that work?
