Looking for mid-arm machine

I am looking for a mid-arm machine to keep on my quilt frame for quilting pieces up to queen and/or king size. Currently I am doing them on a domestic size machine with a small throat which gives me approx. 4" of quilting space. Any suggestions what I can get that is not going to break the bank and will give me more quilting room? Would love a long arm with stitch regulator and computerized quilting but I'd also like to be 25 and thin - neither is going to happen!

Try Baileys, many on this board have them and love them. Not to hard on the pocketbook.

What quilt frame do you have? Is it one that will handle a midarm machine?

I really like the Voyager 17 midarm, but you need a Hinterberg stretch frame for it. Both are available online from http://www.hinterberg.com but sometimes you can find a really good used deal on this setup. I got mine for $3,000 from a quilt guild member who was upgrading. Someone else found one with the stitch regulator for $2,300 on the House of Hanson site. There are two places online where used setups are advertised:

You have to make sure the base on your frame is big enough for the machine you intend to buy. I know Gammill makes a mid-size machine, and many quilters also love their HandiQuilters, which also come in different sizes. Prism gave you good advice---watch for a well cared for used machine within driving distance. Be sure to test drive it before purchase. You can save a lot. I know I did.

Depends on what quilt frame you have.
