Looking for name of this block

Anyone know the name of this block? Every time I go into this store, this pillow calls to me....

alfosa421 06-11-2012 04:57 PM

They look like paper pieced cactus flower-try googling free paper piecing patterns-I forget which designes I found something like this under but there were a ton of patterns there. Good luck

Neesie 06-11-2012 05:13 PM

If the store has an online site, it might be listed, with a name.

Peckish 06-11-2012 05:20 PM

They have an online presence, but it's a regional chain and there's no info about the displays in each store. The employees don't know what it is, apparently the employee who made it no longer works there.

BellaBoo 06-11-2012 05:45 PM

I'm pretty sure it's the Mexican Star pattern.

According to Barbara Brackman it's a Tennessee Tulip (Bets Ramsey design 1981) . Looks like it's been slightly modified here, which is not uncommon in quilted items that have been imported, as this pillow may have been.

Okay, you all want a good laugh? I can't believe I did this. I'm just too stupid to live. Not only did I know the name of this block (Cross and Crown), I'VE ALREADY MADE AN ENTIRE QUILT FULL OF THESE BLOCKS! Back in October 2010!

Giving myself a V-8 smack in the head....

Awesome! It is funny how that happens~its what makes this quilting thing so much fun! Change a color turn a block and its a whole new world! =)

quiltingcandy 06-11-2012 06:29 PM

Too funny! Sounds like something I would do.

scraphq 06-11-2012 07:28 PM

The pillow in the store must have been saying, "remember me, remember me".

NanaCsews2 06-11-2012 07:32 PM

LOL. Funny! Here is a link from Quilterscache.com for the pattern. I love that pillow and the coloring.

PS...this one is just lovely! My fave colors though..ehhehe

JustAbitCrazy 06-11-2012 09:50 PM

I think that's why the pillow "was calling you", lol! Sounds like something I'd do. That pillow has the blocks turned on point, and that often throws me off, too. They aren't on point in the quilt you made. (It's true, and a good excuse--run with it!) :D

It's certainly some sort of flower, but I don't know which one

earthwalker 06-11-2012 11:18 PM

:) You are soooooo not alone :)

QM 06-11-2012 11:27 PM

I'm sure that is what it was saying. Or maybe, "You already did a better version of this pattern." Thank you for sharing it.

GemState 06-12-2012 04:34 AM

No wonder you liked it!!!

What a beautiful quilt! No wonder you were drawn to that pillow.

It's not exactly Cross and Crown. I made up a PDF from EQ for you.

Lynda!!! You are SO AWESOME!!!! I was just sitting down to mess with Cross and Crown in EQ, and decided to check the board first - and here you are with the block already done!! Thank you!!!

new2q 06-12-2012 07:59 AM

It must mean that it is time to make another one.

No problem, Peggi! Is there a way I can export the block in EQ? That way you can play with the size.

Lynda

Lynda

Well, you can export it, but I don't think there's a way you can save it as an attachment to this board. It would have to be a file you can either email directly, or save to a central location that we can both access. However, I've already recreated it in EQ using your pdf, so no worries!

justflyingin 06-12-2012 12:56 PM

I love it! It shows that you do truly like this block. Also, I think your quilt is wonderful.

whinnytoo 06-13-2012 05:05 AM

Glad you remembered! It is a beauty!

feline fanatic 06-13-2012 06:02 AM

Not exactly the same as what you did in your quilt Peggi. When I first saw it I thought it was Goose Tracks. But there is a variation in the pillow's block. How kind and generous of Lynda to recreate in EQ. it is a beautiful block.

Karen G 06-13-2012 06:49 AM

No wonder you were attracted to it!

KyKaren1949 06-13-2012 12:11 PM

I may not be looking at this correctly, but I don't think it's the same pattern. On the quilt you made, isn't there a square at the base of each flower? The pillow seems to have "leaves" instead of that square. (I think!)

KathyPhillips 06-13-2012 12:24 PM

That is a b-u-tiful green, blue and wht. quilt!! I love it! And as someone said, change to colors and it looks like an entirely different pattern.

maryellen2u 06-13-2012 12:29 PM

No wonder the pillow was talking to you! Oh the tricks our mind plays on us! hehehe!

LOL! No wonder you like the pillow pattern! Oh, I am so glad to find out that I'm not the only one!

Ooooooooooh... what a spectacular quilt. What's the name of the pattern? LOL! I'm just giving your grief! Don't feel bad... sometimes I do things that make me wonder if I'm the dumbest person alive or what?!?

Alondra 06-14-2012 05:04 PM

I can see why it calls you. It's very pretty.

katkat1946 06-14-2012 06:27 PM

ha ha ha ha!!!! Funny! So glad you shared - now we can ALL see it in two color schemes:)

Hulalulu 06-15-2012 07:49 AM

Beleive it is on Quilters Cache as a 12" block -- Tulip Lady Fingers....in joy -- it's lovely.
