looking for OPTIONAL auto shut-off iron
 

I am looking for an iron that has an OPTIONAL auto-shut off, if there is such a thing. My Rowenta Master (less than a year old) decided to start pouring out water from every oraface-especially when I first turn it on. I HATE the short auto-turn off and want either a long auto turn-off (like 30 min), or the ability to turn it off all together. Any suggestions???

I'll be watching this topic. My rowenta did the same thing. I have been using it with no water in it, but I really miss the steam!

If your iron is taking a hissy-fit, does it need to be cleaned?

As for non-shut off irons, do they even exist anymore?
I tend to think not, for the safety reasons they were created.

Why didn't you return the iron? Wasn't that covered under the warranty?

The cheap $10 irons at Walmart do not automatically shutoff. A friend has one and it is on all day long while we sew. It is a real work horse.

I've got a Rowenta 1700 Focus iron, it doesn't have a shutoff at all. The iron is awful, it leaks like a sieve!

My Rowenta was pouring out water since the day I got it. I don't use steam while pressing. As soon as I turned the steam button my iron hasn't poured water out since. I now use steam while pressing and actually I like it better then no steam. It's 2 years old now. Hope this helps!

I have had 3 Rowenta travel irons, love the size, hate that they eventually leaked.

I just bought a new Sunbeam Classic Iron like his one:

It is light weight, steams really well and only cost about $25. After 30 minutes it does shut off, but it has a red button on the top that you push to reactivate it. I like it a lot.
