Looking for pattern: Rose Garden
Hi, I am wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to get the pattern for this quilt?
http://www.risingstarquilters.org/sh...PeterStringham It is about halfway down the page. I really like it, but I can't find a pattern anywhere and I'm not sure how the background was made. If I can get help figuring it out, or find the pattern that would be awesome. Thank you! Emily |

Not sure if it is what you are looking for, but it said modified snail trail. |
If you look at the quilt you can see the snail's trail block. It looks like the last round of triangles has one edge that makes part of the side, the triangle tip has the background coloured triangle sewn on the top and rectangle sewn on the other edge with a triangle on the end. Pretty easy if you draw it out on graph paper.

Looks like a snail's trail block set on point, with half hexigons and filler strips...
Cool pattern, thanks for posting, I'm going to try and sketch it out. If successful I'll post! |
I agree, it is just a modified snail trail. Very pretty and original indeed. I doubt he is selling this pattern because nothing is on the internet but two pinterest posts.

Cool pattern, thanks for posting, I'm going to try and sketch it out. If successful I'll post! i did manage to link into robs' websites and looked at his gallery, his kits & patterns for sale and he has two free quilt patterns ..but nothing resembles the quilt on the rising star page. that's a beauty. the block would also be great beginning for a scrappy snails' trail quilt. or interspersed with scrappy snails' trail blocks. thanks for starting this thread quiltingbee12!!!! |

I was able to open it and save it to my computer (about 12,000 kb). You can pm me and I can probably forward it to you or make a copy for you.
|
I sent you a PM. I drew the block in EQ. I can send you the block as templates if you want.

It looks like a snails trail pattern to me. Scraps were used, so it looks very different from most snails trails I ahve seen.

Hi quiltingbee12-
I don't think you will find the pattern; I tried double clicking on Peter stringham's name at the top of the link you provided and nothing came up. You might try contacting rising star quillters - I am sure that they must have contact info. However, I would encourage you to just wing it. Marcia Hohn has a fabulous site [QuiltersCache] with tons of free quilt block patterns. Monkey's Wrench is very similar to Snail's Trail and has a clearer 4Patch center. Go to her site and pull up the Monkey's Wrench pattern. That will give you most of your block. Then you can just add the trapezoids [or half hexagons] around your block. and then add the green background pieces. If you are uncertain of the size, copy the block that Maniac has very helpfully drawn for you, make it the size you want on your computer, then print out and cut out the pieces. Best of luck and thanks for the link, I will make it too. |

I am not particularly fond of monkey wrench or snail's trail, but this does make a rather unusual and lovely block. It would be great for using up a lot of scraps. |

With EQ7, you can print out any block to be PPed. The trouble is, there is no way of PPing a 4 patch (at least that I know of). So I printed this PP pattern as a 6" block so you all could see the basics. I am not sure what Peter did to get this quilt to be 50"x60". 15" blocks??

i think it is also the same block that is used in this pattern https://alderwoodquilts.com/shopping...p?ID=330100102
