looking for a pattern
I have a friend who asked me if I could find a quilt pattern for her. It is a baby quilt in the shape of a lamb. She and her mother made it several years ago and she would like another one made for her grandchild. Her mother was a seamstress and not a quilter so my guess is that it may have been a Simplicity, McCalls, etc.? This is a copy of the description she gave me:
"I probably can't even describe it very well, but I will try, the best I can.. The quilt it's self is the shape of a lamb. The body of the lamb was naturally the largest part of the body, it was pink and I think it was scalloped on the top edge and curved. The head was on one endd, a curly que tail on the other and four black feet on the bottom. Ohhhh, I am so terrible at this. It was hand tied, rather than machine quilted. I'm sorry, but at the moment that's about the best I can do." |
It kindof sounds like the rag quilts that are in the shape of turtles and dinosaurs etc...I think simplicity makes that
pattern. Hope you find what you're looking for! |
Did you Google Lamb Quilt Patterns or quilted lamb patterns? That might be a good place to start.

here's a mccalls pattern... maybe you can enlarge the applique lamb larger than the bag/pillow

Enlarge this, maybe?

Do they have a picture of the original quilt? This would help a lot, you might be able to re-create the quilt from the photo if you can't find the pattern.
