Looking for a pattern

I remember once reading about a special wedding quilt that depicted a young girls' readiness for marriage. It had several (maybe 12 or 16) blocks that depicted the different stages in either the relationship or her growing up. I think it is an Amish Tradition but am not sure.

Anyway I want to make this for my niece (and if I start now will have plenty of time!) I tried google searches but could not find anything. Can anyone help me with either a link to a book or pattern?

Thanks!

Liz

Do you remember if it was a magazine or a book? And how old it was? I also could not find anything like you describe by Googling. If it was on the web at any time, you may be able to use the "wayback machine" to find it.

No, it was actually about five years ago at a show and tell at a guild that I used to belong to. Can't remember the woman but just remember thinking what a beautiful quilt!

It may be a one-of-a-kind quilt then, made without a pattern. She may have made up her own applique blocks from scratch, or by outlining photos.

It may also have been made from a panel print. I found a couple of those type of panels while Googling, but they were just four pictures.

If the quilt was displayed in a guild show, you may be able to find a photo of it online in the guild's gallery of pictures (assuming the guild has a website; not all do).
