looking for pattern
 

my 90 yo grandma is looking for a stamped cross stitch Christmas tree skirt. Her hands and vision won't allow her to do counted cross stitch. She's on a limited income so she can't afford the expensive ones I've found on line. I can make the skirt, stamp it for her and quilt it, if we can find a iron on pattern. Of course, a few have sold out, especially those I found on Pinterest but the stamped ones are extremely hard to find. Googled it with no positive results. I've tried Herschel's, Dimensions, and Aunt Martha's with no luck. If anyone knows a web site or source, I and she would appreciate it. Thanks, and happy New Year to all.

Check Mary Maxim website. It's a huge craft store in Port Huron Mi. I haven't been there in a long time but they used to have a large selection.

Realize that the designs you stamp don't have to be specifically for a tree skirt -- any Christmas designs will work, or you might have to go with red flowers. Good luck finding something.

So far I haven't found any iron on cross stitch Christmas patterns at all, even with Christmas flowers. Tried the above sites listed & didn't find any Christmas iron on cross stitch patterns at all. Was surprised Aunt Martha's web site didn't have any and Hershels only had pre-stamped stockings.

Just tried Mary Maxim, nothing but stamped tablecloths, looked to see if I could modify a table cloth into a circle for skirt but nothing there that wouldn't distort the cross stitch pattern. Thanks, anyway. still trying

Google "cross stitch Christmas patterns" and a lot come up. I'm sure there are free patterns on the net. Years ago you could print a pattern and iron the pattern onto fabric with an iron and the ink from the paper. Don't know if it still works, but with all the inventions lately, there should be a paper that you can print on and then iron on. Hope you find something to work!

Aw, nuts. I think all of those stamped transfer patterns are not for cross stitch.

Try Herrschners.com. They have a several stamped cross stitch items you could adapt into a skirt, or already a skirt under $50, some under $40, my quick look even found one under $30. Good luck and God bless your grandma for keeping busy!

I would look at children's coloring books for patterns that you like, print them out and buy a transfer pencil http://smile.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_...ci%2Caps%2C230 out line the design you like and iron it onto the WASHED fabric of your choice. I have used the transfer pencils and they work well.

Have you looked a Michaels or Hobby Lobby. They should be on clearance.

I have two embroidered Christmas tree skirts that I got at Goodwill-type stores. I'd be happy to copy them and send them on to you. One is Santa sleigh and reindeer fling in the air and the other is various Christmas motifs like candy canes and that one is done in french knots. I think it could be done in outline stitch by an experienced embroiderer. PM me if you are interested.

Expect to pay more now than many years ago.

I have a kit for Christmas Tree Skirt that has printed colorful images on it that was made by the BeeCaft Company which appears to be out of business. This kit is call an "OUTLINE QUILTING KIT" and calls for the images to be individually outlined with hand stitches around each of them. I am unable to post a picture of the kit but maybe someone here on the board will be able to give you more information about it.
