I'm looking for a pattern that uses one fabric per 5"square and, when sewing all the squares together creates a quilt top that goes from light to dark and back again, all on a diagonal. I know the patterns are out there, but don't know the name--
I'm starting to quilt again after many years of not quilting, and want something easy.

Are you thinking a bargello?

If you don't find a pattern you could put all the squares on a design wall or the floor and move them around until you get the look you want.
