Looking for quilt shop around Lancaster, PA I think

There is a quilt or fabric shop around the Lancaster area that is supposed to be a really crammed store with stacks and stacks of fabrics. Does anyone know what the name of it it?

The Old County Store has a great selection at great prices.

You probably are looking for Sauders. I don't know if they are on the web or not. They have some really great sales. You can purchase bolts of fabric and bolts of bias binding etc. at really great prices. When they have their sales the prices are even better. If my stash wasn't already so big I would go there in a heartbeat.

I think you mean Obie's Country Store. It is so packed that you can hardly move. I don't like it because the fabric is so packed that you can hardly see it and when you do find a bolt, it's often got 5 or 10 bolts stacked on it and you can't pull it out. But it is an experience to visit.

I see you are from Alabama. Are you familiar with all the other great stores in the Lancaster area?

Zooks in Intercourse is great as is The Old Country Store right across from Zooks. The BEST store in the area is Burkholders. At least 10,000 bolts, patterns, books, batting, notions etc. They just had their 35% off everything in the store sale. Their normal prices are already discounted so this was a great sale. No affiliation. Their website is Burkfabrics.com. Get on their mailing list since their sales apply to online orders as well. Love Sauders as well.

Sauders website is now thisnthatfabrics.com.

I also think you mean Obies. It is definitely a unique place. I personally didn't like it at all. It was cluttery beyond anything I've ever seen. It actually felt rather unsafe to me, yet I just had to weave through the tunnel like maze of dusty fabric. That said, it's worth seeing it for yourself if you're in the area.

As mentioned above, The Old Country Store, The Quilting Shed (I think that's the name), Zooks, Sauders, Burkholders and Weavers are worth the trip if you're in the area. I also found a place in Straussburg the last time I was there, but I can't remember the name. They had fabric in the front of the store (reasonable prices) and antiques in the back.

i agree w/nilla. you're probably talking about obies. its probably as large as your bathroom w/piles of fabric. of course the fabric you want is on the bottom of the pile. they dont stack vertically. they stack horizontally (east to west) and a real pain to try to get the fabric out. not worth it to me. and it all discontinued fabric. not that it matters. if you like it fine. i've been going to lancaster a few years now and find the best place is martin's 2799 east cumberland st. lebanon, pa. they have beautiful flat fold for 3.79 and there is quite a selection. i don't care for sauder's. burkholders is great but pricey. dont see anything special about weavers. old country store is okay. they will probably have fabrics on sale when the fabric show starts and they are open later at night. have fun!

I think that you're looking for Obies. It's great to go and poke around in. Be careful of falling fabric though. They have old(discontinued) fabric as well as new fabrics. Make sure to use the bathroom before you get there as there is only a port-a-potty outside. If you are going to be in the area do a google search of Lancaster county quilt shops and map out your route. Make sure that you bring snacks because when you get on the back roads there aren't many places to eat. Hopefully you'll enjoy yourself.
