i bought a like-new ladies 4x lightweight denim dress with a full skirt at a garage sale $1.00. I got a nice charity quilt by adding a print I had on hand.

Is there Freecycle in the US? (Did it originate there perhaps?) You can 'ask' for things as well as give them away.

I am sure that there are quilters who find scraps from trimming after quilting, cutting from fat quarters etc a burden and would love for them to be used by someone.

Facebook has many sites where women can sell off their unused material, thread, patterns etc. You will have to join each site to be able to do business (selling or buying), but some great deals can be made. I purchase a lot of my children's novelty fabric from one or two of the sites.

Yes there is and I've used it several times for quilt stuff and other things as well.

look on Amazon, but read the reviews so you know what you are getting. Looks like the strip widths can vary

I did buy fabric about a month ago from the facebook fabric sale site at $3 a yard, not all were a full yard so I got a lot of different fabrics for my scrap quilts. I also buy from thrift shops in my area. Quilted twins online shop has fabric for $4-5 a yard and they make up bundles of 1/2 yards too. The hunt is half the fun-

I forgot about goodwill online. Yes, you can get fabrics there!

Batik fabric is expensive so the scraps will be expensive too. There are many good online shops that have daily specials. I buy the deals at Quilt in A Day and Missouri Star because of low or free shipping. Moda makes a scrap bag that super nice sold at QIAD.

There is a Facebook group called fabric relocation station that is a no selling group. People post fabrics they want to get rid of; you only pay the cost of shipping. You can also list specific fabrics you're looking for.
