I'm looking for this square in a 12". Can someone recommend where I might find one please?
I don't know how to make it larger  http://www.quilterscache.com/Q/QuatrefoilsBlock.html Thanks! |
I sure wish I knew what to say..... Hopefully someone that's been quilting longer can come up with something.... Good Luck. Let us know how it goes

I don't know where to find a bigger block online, but I can easily give you the measurements for making a 12" block if you would like. It's a beautiful block.

nor'easter, I'd really appreciate it! Thank you!
|
I'll PM you the measurements. My pleasure. :D

it looks like you can modify it to 2 inch squares to get your 12 inch block. the 4 patches in the corners would be 4 inches by 4 inches, or 2 inch squares. The large blue centers with half squares would also be 4 by 4. And the center block would be 4 by 4. All finished sizes of course. Add the 1/2 inch for seam allowances.

Thanks!

This will look silly but what I do to fix an image to the dimensions that I need is this: I make a printscreen save and then, I open my graphic design program (I use Paint Shop Pro), I paste the image in as a new image and then, I use the zooming tool until the size of the pieces is right.
|
What I do is:
Buy graph paper with .5" squares Draw full 12" square Then split it up into half - quarters -etc. however the original design is made. This will be the size of the finished block. You can then trace individual templates adding a quarter inch seam allowance to the fabric. :D |
Yup, Izy. That is just what I do. I make blocks into whatever size I'm wanting by just drawing it onto graph paper. Then cut out each piece, adding 1/4" seam. Sometimes I transfer it from graph paper onto the plastic template and add the seams then. Good luck. Practice makes perfect.

Where can I get the graph paper from?
|
You can get it free online. Here are two. There are lots more.

EEKKKKK, how do I know which one to print? It's new to me.
|
Bumping this because your question never got answered, sewnsewer2. I do not use graph paper to enlarge patterns, so I cannot give you an accurate reply. Perhaps one of the ladies who do enlarge them this way can help you with your question. (I use math. )

Ok...I hear ya sewnsewer2!!
Here is a pdf file which you can download and save to your computer and just print off what you need. This is 1/4" squares. Hopes this helps you!! If you need any more help just PM me :D |
As the paper is smaller. What I do is:-
Draw the design by 6" (No seam allowances) Then Draw each section of the design DOUBLE the amount of squares contained in the 6" i.e. if it was a four square patch in the 6" design each of the squares would be 3" x 3" - So make your template 6" x 6" for each square x 4 = 12" x 12" :D For triangles - Count how many inches or part there of on each side and draw the diagonal as usual. So if the triangle 4 x 4" on short sides - Draw 8" x 8" then draw diagonal.......hope this sounds easy - it really is honest :D You must add your seam allowances to either the fabric or the template - your choice :D So if you are still struggling, just PM me and we can go through it until you are sure you understand :D |
Thank you everyone. I think I'm going to get EQ5 also.
