Ok, I just got a sizzix big shot pro last week, bought an accuquilt die to cut fabric squares with and tried it tonight. Miserable failure- my husband described it as pathetic! It would partially cut through a layer but not fully. Do I need more adapter pads to put more pressure on the die? Or is it just a matter of starching or "wonder under" the fabric?

Sounds to me like there is not enough pressure on the die.:) I'm assuming if adapter pads came with it you should try more than you did the first time. Others will weigh in on this.:)

Dumb question, I have the Accuquilt Go!, does the Sizzix say the Go dies work with it?

That's why I opted to buy Sizzix, it says it will work will all dies.
And I used all the adapter pads that came with it. I didn't want to buy more if it's not going to make any difference.

The Accuquilt kind of does the same thing, the mats wear out after a while so you have to keep replacing them or there isn't enough tension. Gets to be expensive, handy, but expensive.

I use cardboard to make things work in my machine. Just keep layering until it is more snug.

You just need a shim or two. You can try cardstock, cereal box cardboard or whatever will bring it up to the right thickness. This is normal because there are so many sizes of dies and they can't make it fit them all perfectly without adapters.

I found this. It shows the big shot (the electric one-can't remember what it's called) but the thickness info should be the same.

I am so watching this topic. I am getting a big shot when I get back to the states.

At the last quilt show the lady demonstrating the sizzix had to add cardboard under the pad when using the accuquilt die, yes you can use all dies BUT they are NOT the same width thats why your cuts looked "pathetic" not your fault, add card stock and try again.
