Looking for a tutorial using neck ties
 

I would like to make a table topper using Christmas ties. I thought I had seen a tutorial on here but can not find it, or maybe I was dreaming. The pattern is like a Dresden Plate. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm anxious to see this one.

1. Wash ties with cool water and detergent,plus a tablespoon of dawn dish soap.
2. Take ties apart and press
3. Iron a light weight stabilizer in the back of the fabric.
4. Cut the fabric into desired shapes and sew together. Feel free to PM me if questions. My sewing group just made a sampler quilt with neckties,I'll post it in a couple of weeks after I get done quilting it.

I am not the original questioner but I did steps 1&2, never thought about step 3.....off to buy some lite weight interfacing.....thanks for hints...( ongoing project)

WOW, never really noticed that they made enough Xmas ties prints would work with a Dresden plate. Can't wait to see a photo when you finished. Very interesting.

I've been cleaning out old clothes etc. and came across a couple of dozen of DH's old ties. Not enough for much more than a runner I guess. Thanks for the info on prep.
