Looking for Wood Craftsman and Info on Quilting groups in Noblesville IN

Hi,

I am planning on retiring at the end of this year and so am preparing for my next life (& more enjoyable one) of making quilts, knitting, crocheting, etc. To that end, I am wondering if someone would be willing to give me some help. I live in Noblesville IN and wonder if there is a group of folks who meet in this area to work on quilts and help those, like me, that have been away from it for several years.

I also want to get my sewing area better organized and I have 2 sewing machine cabinets that my Dad made to work with the machines I had at that time. He died in 1987, so needless to say the machines have been replaced by this time. I would love to find someone, who is a good wood craftsman, in the Noblesville IN area that could possibly help me by remodeling these to fit my current machines. If anyone knows of someone in this area, please send me a private message. I don't believe that we want to advertise individual's names without their knowledge on a forum.

Thanks for you help.

I hope you find someone to help you out. Are you a member of a church where you could ask a congregation member to help you out or get a referral. Or you could go to your local lumber yard store and see if they can refer someone.

Part of my problem is that my husband & I live in 2 states. I was transferred from an Ohio office to the Indy office in my job and my husband is a minister working in Ohio, so that is where I attend church. We purchased a home in IN where we intend to retire, but even though living here a few years, I have met very few people outside of my work setting.

I had not thought of the lumber store for referrals, thanks.

Look into the Indy quilt guild-they held a wonderful quilt show in Westfield last year. Go to local quilt shops in the area and the surrounding areas. Avon has a nice quilt shop and a large JoAnns where they may help point you in the right direction.

You might try PM-ing CraftyBear, she may be able to help you with the Indianapolis area

Not exactly sure where you are located, but there are several Amish communities in Indiana and most of them are excellent woodworkers....It might be worth a bit of research.....I live in the middle of the Amish around Berne, such nice people.....I know there are several close to me who do custom work.
