Loralie panel help needed
1 Attachment(s)
Purchased this panel several years ago and have always wanted to make a quilt with wonky blocks. Any ideas on how to do it would be appreciated. Some of the blocks are not the same size so how could I incorporate it into the quilt? How do I cut the strips to make it wonky? Thanks.

Google 'twisted block quilt' and you'll get many tutorials. I made one with square blocks a few years ago. It looks like either the original quilt has pics from a different panel or she just used ones that were the same size. You could make all your blocks the same size using the largest center piece as a guide for making the frames for the smaller pieces.
Cari This gives me a great idea. I have tons of Loralei embroidery design sets and I've been wanting to use some of them in a quilt for someone special to me. |
Dr. Seuss has a wonky pattern on the internet, that maybe you could use for help

Some of there panels the blocks are the same size. Your panel they are not. I bought two of her panels and have not figured out how to use them in a quilt either.

I find the easiest for me to do wonky is to add 3-4 inch strip all around my block. I then use my large square but tip it off square to the degree I want. I think Bonnie Hunter has a tutorial on her Happy Scrappy Houses free pattern that might help? Her site is www.quiltville.blogspot.ca and it is under the free pattern tab at the top.
