Help, Help, Help, I am so close to being finished with this quilt, and the blocks are quilted very formally. I thought I wanted to do a sort of McTavish in the border, and my friend said she thought the informality of that would conflict with the blocks. Now I am unsure what to do. I will try to post a pic tomorrow, but does anyone have any suggestions for a more formal approach to the border of a quilt?

Take a clear piece of plast draw your McTavish how you want it then place it over your block that way you can test the pattern before you actually sew it. I saw this on Fons/porter thought was a great idea!

If at all possible, you want to keep the amount of quilting evenly distributed over the quilt. For me, the informality of McTavish would not be a problem but McTavish quilting tends to be heavy; if the blocks are not heavily quilted also, that would be a problem. I really need to see a pic before making any suggestions.
