Well, I have to agree with the saying- "Quilter Husbands are great men"... My room in the "lower level"is under construction as we"speak"!!! He came into my sewing/ spare bedroom, one day and said " You need a room all your own, How about me finishing off a section down stairs?" wow! I said and the rest is history....I am so excited to have a great room soon, and have some room for sewing buddies as well...!!!
I will post some pics when it is all done!!

fantastic space--lovely hubby! or it it the other way around?

quilterhubbies are usually of the kind that "do" stuff, too--like seeks like--and it is marvelous that they get it, and pitch in, and lovingly feed our habit.

Good for you and what a lovely man to do this for you

Annaquilts 04-11-2011 10:27 AM

Wow what a blessing. Enjoy! I know living space is at a premium in europe. 11x11 is not bad especially since he adapted it to be a true sewing/quilting studio.

My sewing area has morfed over time
With each child and business venture it changes.
Before kids and many moves ago it was an extra room with a bulky computer in the corner for my husband. As time has past we seem to be fitting more into that space.
Our dining room has turned into an office for us and a study pod for the kids. In the corner is a desk with my sewing machine and another for our daughter. When we decided to pursue refurbishing vintage machines as a hobby/business my husband gutted my main storage area of anything he though irrelavant and it is somewhere in the garage. the shelves are now lined with sewing machines etc. His office in the basement has been transformed into our primary work hub for the machines. I have the oppurtunity to sew daily, but never on my own machine except when the pile of kids jeans needing knees mended overflows and the kids can rigtfully fuse they have nothing to wear.

nwm50 04-11-2011 02:20 PM

that is great! Will love your space so much, now get busy once room is finished to show us what you made with more sewing space!

sewbizgirl 04-11-2011 02:48 PM

What a sweet guy! My hubby built me a house-- and upstairs he made my sewing room with a huge closet for all my stuff.

booklady 04-11-2011 02:54 PM

Looks good! Next time I visit in Chipping Sodbury, I'll come by to see the finished room!

RugosaB 04-11-2011 02:58 PM

Sure a keeper!

Noticed how you turned 2 drawer units on their sides for the right height for the sewing machine, never thought of that. What we ended up doing was buying a couple of unfinished kitchen cabinets, and my hubs cut the toe kick off of them. Too late now, but your idea would have been easier

GrannyHanaDa 04-11-2011 03:22 PM

Nothing like having your own "sewing space".

wraez 04-11-2011 03:40 PM

I'm smiling for you ... give that hubby a big hug and kiss!

KS quilter 04-11-2011 03:57 PM
