I saw this at a quilt show, the label on the quilt said it was a Bird Brain pattern, I googled it but I couldn't find it, there were 3 quilts with this pattern in the show, different setting, same embroidery pattern, thanks for your help.

Very pretty.

Bird Brain is the designer/website name. they have lots of embroidery designs. http://www.birdbraindesigns.net/
is it the quilt layout/pattern that you like or the specific embroidery design in the blocks?

Cute embroidery designs. When quilter's give their quilts new names, it makes it more difficult to track down where the embroidery designs came from.

I like the embroidery design pattern, they have several patterns on the site but not this one.

That is just beautiful!!! Great job.

That is a beautiful quilt.

When someone does that embroidery (mine would be by hand) for a quilt does each block need a stabilizer?
Thanks.

very lovely quilt. looks cuddly

I think I saw this in a quilt shop quite a while ago - each square was a separate pattern you had to buy. Also each square was embroidered to reflect a different month. I couldn't tell from your pic if it was exactly the same or not. I bought a couple of the patterns (with good intentions of buying the rest later & the quilt shop kept telling me they were going to restock the pattern & they didn't ). Of course, I can't find them now but I will keep looking and let you know the packaging info.

I don't know of anyone using stabilizer for hand embroidery, but it is a necessity if doing it on an emb machine, as the thread tension will pull the design so it puckers. If you choose to embroider using batting behind, either way, you don't need stabilizer.

Thank you Gay for the tip. :)

Can't help you with the pattern but it is beautiful.

Sometimes a backing (stablizer) is suggested to help hide threads that may cross over or been seen from the front. If I do this, I generally trim it very close to the stitches after completing.

Thanks.

I sometimes use a piece of flannel fused to the back or very thin fusible batting on the back of pieces I hand embroider, mostly just to hide any sloppy shortcuts I take in stitching. It's worked well for me.

That's really nice, I like it! I have heard that embroidery is making a comeback. In my local LQS they have several kits but none as lovely as this one. Thanks for posting.

Jillmc is correct. I have the Bareroots pattern for May in my hand. It says " Little Stitchies" # 174. I believe that these were all the same houses with different yards and colors for each month. They are very cute. I believe that I bought this one to make a housewarming gift. The finished block is 12 x 12 according to the pattern. The pattern has a second border outside of the embroidery.

gramquilter2 04-15-2015 03:45 PM

Beautiful pattern. Wish it was machine embroidery.

kiffie2413 04-16-2015 04:23 AM
