Does anyone who lives near an airport in a low-flying area, have problems, or heard of problems, with their TV and/or computerized sewing machine(s) ??

I heard from someone in a chat room with problems... and their neighbors have problems... and I wondered if its something that is happening in the sewing machine field that we havent heard much about... YET... ?

A naval air station was within a half mile of here until last year. I have an A-1 hand guided longarm and a Pfaff Quiltstyle. My Pfaff takes programmed monograms and embroidery stitches. My longarm is stitch regulated. I've never had any machine problems or interference from any aircraft flyovers.

I'm in amateur radio and radio frequency interference is a BIG deal near airports. Essentially, anything that is wireless can interfere with airplanes.

That would explain the TV complaints, but computerized sewing machines???? That's a new one for me! As long as the sewing machine is not sending or receiving wireless transmissions, there is nothing to worry about.

If we start getting sewing machines that act like iPads... all bets are off.

I routinely have dropped calls due to planes, but thankfully no sewing machine problems.

I.E. the lady with the problem said her Bernina *screen* went blank and quit, and she unplugged and replugged and the screen didnt come back.
If the airwaves are using or testing some new technology that can cause problems with computerized sewing machines, temporarily or permanently... we need to know about it....

It could have been something as simple as a power surge, not a problem from airplanes.

We have an air show here every year and the planes interfere with my TV antenna reception. Not every plane creates a problem.

I think that is scary to think about. your sewing machine becoming like an ipad or laptop. that is just a scary thought.

... OR A REFRIGERATOR... I remember a Dummies book asking a simple question, from a new-to-computers viewpoint... ***How does a computer know its not a refrigerator* ?? (i.e. what happens inside the electronics so an electronic thingie knows what it IS ????****

I have to say, if Apple made a sewing machine, I would totally buy it! I'm a sucker for their gadgets!

As for the planes, I agree with VickyS. It should only cause a problem if there's a wireless signal, I think.
