and will be gone as of 3/3/11. Fabric is now 60% off! Still have another LQS in town but they seldom have sales they have 2 tables in back with sale fabric but it isn't that cheap and some of it I have seen at Walmart

hate to loose another shop

NancyG 02-06-2011 09:54 PM

Sorry to hear about another shop closing.

We are losing another one here, too. I used to be able to drive 10mins to get to my closest shop. But she started selling Janomes a few years ago and didn't get as much new fabric. Then the machines went away and still no new fabric. I just knew the end was coming and she will be closing in March after 15 years of business. Truthfully I haven't bought much there lately since I already have it all. Or at least the ones I liked. So now I will have to drive at least 25 mins. to the next nearest shop.

what a shame, businesses just can't make it now

Oh no! Which on in Jacksonville? I live in nearby.

Oh my goodness, what a loss!

My LQS is actually growing. They are in the process of building a new building with the showroom at least twice the size. Can't wait for it to open.

I hear a lot of quilters opening their own shops. Hopefully someone else will come in to replace yours.

Just wish we had a LQS in our area. Only Hobby Lobby and Hancocks! :(

Yes, which one is it?

If any of you live in the Pensacola, FL area, they have the most awesome quilt/fabric store on the planet. It is called A & E Pharmacy - yes you heard right - and is huge and they carry every fabric and notion you can imagine. Their prices are incredible. They have a sale section that changes almost daily. I travel full-time so I have been in quilt stores all over the country and this is my favorite.

That is too bad!! It is a difficult business to be in.

Sounds to me like the three of you that are in that area need to road trip over to Danville, Il. and go to Threads of Time. If you call ahead and they aren't booked you could even bring your machines and stay over for a few nights. It's a wonderful store and retreat center.

If you decide to come over let me know when and I'll see if I can join you. Their prices are pretty average as far as LQS's go and the retreat prices are VERY reasonable.

Hmm. I am on layoff. Lol
