i am making the daisy quilt that was posted on here a couple of weeks ago and i am starting to do the applique around the petals and so forth and i need to know how do you keep the material from puckering,any suggestions on this will be of great help,,thanks a lot

I fuse it with a very light weight fusible and then do the machine applique around it.

Steam n' Seam for fusing is my favorite. It lets you move your applique pieces around until your sure of placement - then iron to make permanent.

a non-woven light weight interfacing on the back of your blocks will help get rid of the puckering.

Either fuse it down, or place a stabilizer on the back of the block that can be cut or torn away when you are done.

I use Steam to Seam 2...plus, I bought the book "Machine Applique for the Terrified Quilter". One of the best book purchases I've made for quilting.

Yep, Steam A Seam 2 works great for to keep the pieces in place while you sew them down.

If you're doing a tight zig zag stitch and still having puckering, you need to use some type of stabilizer on the bottom.
