Is it better to use a blanket stitch. I was thinking about using a blind hem stitch but wasn't sure if that would work. Would some machine applique quilters out there tell me if this would work. I have got my interfacing templates cut out I just need to sew them this week.

What effect are you looking for? Some do the blanket stich and some do the blind hem.

I personally use the blanket stitch and most of the time use varegated thread-rainbow color so I don't have to change my thread. I have a really cool stitch on my sewing machine that makes it look almost embroidered. It's like a double stitch blanket stitch.

Have fun.

Eleanor Burns from Quilt in a Day uses the blind hem stitch with the fusible interfacing method all the time. She discusses it in many of her videos. It must be OK.

you could use either one - it really just depends on the look of the finished product and which one you prefer.

i find myself switching one project will look better with the blind hem and the next project looks better with the blanket stitch.

just set up a sample and see which you prefer

The stitches will show on top of the applique, when machine stitching. Ofcourse, setting the width of the stitch very narrow will minimize how much the stitching will show.

Try a few stitches on scraps, vary the width and type and see which you like the best :D

You may want to use invisible thread on top if you don't want them to show :D:D:D
