Machine Binding

Please share your favorite method of applying the binding totally by machine. Any links are welcome! TY

My favourite is the QB tutorial done by Charisma under the title Quick Machine binding with flange.

I sew the binding to the back of the quilt, flip it around to the front and use a zipper foot to sew it to the front along the stitch line, holding a few inches at a time. I don't press or pin it except at the corners, saves a lot of time and fussing and it actually goes quite a bit faster.

I stitch my binding to the front, fold it over to the back. Pin, then
put a line of thin Elmer's washable glue, press and remove the pins
as I go. Then stitch in the ditch to the front. When pinning, I make
sure that it catches the binding at the back. Pin same direction
as you will be SID.
Here's a tutorial that's very much like how I sew my binding
with a slight difference...she uses 2" binding and sew 1/4".
I use 2.5" binding and use 3/8" seam. I also like to use the
"Perfect Binding Miter" tool. It helps to mark each corner.
It's always a good idea to make a test with the same fabric,
batting and binding before you binding your actual quilt.
I also use Patrick Loose's method of notching the corners.
Watch his video on Youtube.
And don't forget...practice makes perfect. :-)

I posted this one a few weeks ago. Maybe something in it will help.

I sew onto the back, turn to front and sew down. I use some of Darren's tips on the tutorial he did.

I haven't seen a posting by Charisma for a long time. She did beautiful quilting. What happened to her contributions? Missing her!

Charisma has a blog now. I think she gave us notice that her business had picked up and she didn't have time for her family, blog, quilting, and QB. I like her flange method too, and sometimes check out her blog. when I sew a binding on by machine I sew it to the back, bring it to the front, flip it over and sew very close to the edge. I don't press or pin. My preference is sewing to the front and flipping and hand sewing, but, with baby quilts I like to machine sew the bindings.

I've used the Martelli Zip Bind System for years. Always perfect.
