I have a Viking Designer SE and lately when I embroider a birds nest forms on the back side of the embroidery and ends up getting sewn into the metal plate covering the feed dogs. Has anyone else had this problem and resolved it? If so what was wrong and what did you do to fix it?

Thanks,

sounds like you may have a lint build up in the bobbin area- take it all apart & give it a good cleaning- also what kind of stablizer are you using- sometimes a different one makes a difference.

Thanks,

I have Vikings too. And yes I did have that problem. Check your tension, clean out the bobbin area well from lint. If it still happens, check with your dealer. I had an issue 2 years ago with mine, turned out the tension unit went bad and had to be replaced, it was covered by the warranty so no charge. If you take it in for repair, also take the embroidery unit in so they can check it out too. I guess that was where my problem was, because it didn't do it during regular sewing.

I have had that happen to my Viking too but don't remember what I did to fix it - ( it wasn't a trip to the sewing machine doctor) Most likley clean, change needle, rethread, kick back and let it set a while....

I have the same machine..and it is usually a stray thread in the bobbin area on my machine.

That was my first thought. I also make sure I change needles often.
