machine needle size chart?

does anyone have a chart showing the needle hole size? which way is the largest or smallest. i always forget and it's getting harder to see them.

Here is the info I use: https://www.superiorthreads.com/educ...e-right-needle

yes, but which is larger, going smaller in needle "size" or larger?? 12 versus 14, etc. larger means smaller or larger means larger eye of needle. I had my Essential thread shred once when quilting. i wasn't doing FMQ, just regular stitching.

The higher the number the larger the needle. For CT Essential cotton thread which is 50wt 2 py I use a size 14/19 topstitch needle. For CT Pro thread I use a size 80/12

This chart will help you: http://www.generations-quilt-pattern...dle-guide.html

I was a first grade teacher, so pardon my simplicity. Small number, small needle; big number, big needle.:D

yes but something else is the opposite. thread I think. frustrating when you can't remember which one.

Thread is just the opposite. Big number thinner thread. But you have to consider the ply too. 50 wt 3 ply is thicker then 50 wt 2 ply. I won't buy thread if the ply isn't listed.

That should be: CT Essential cotton thread which is 50 wt 3 ply (not 2 ply)

A larger needle size does not always mean a larger eye. A lot depends on the type of needle, too.
