When machine quilting, do you use a diffeerent needle when you piece and then quilt? I just realized that I had been using a size 14 needle which with my machine is red for quilting fabrics.
But for some reason I think that for the longest time I was using a size 11 or 12 when I first starting sewing to piece with.
Does this sound right? But I don't remember when I bought
my needles last and why I bought just a package of size 14.

On my Bernina QE440 I use a Sharps 75/11 for piecing and usually a Quilting 14 for quilting (sometimes a 12).

I usually use smaller/thinner needles for piecing than a 90 (14).

I usually piece with a 70 (10) or 80 (12) needle.

I use Schmetz Quilting needles, with the green band. I use both sizes that come in the package. I don't quilt on my domestic machines, so I buy special needles for quilting.

Yes that is what I thought when I changed my needle last night. At some point I had changed my needle and then all along I have been using my bigger needle. Don't know what I was thinking.

I do a lot of PP and use a larger needle for that. I use a 70 or 80 to piece.
