Machine quilting on dm
I am thinking of trying to machine quilt and have a question . I am going to do straight line quilting on the diagonal, do I start in the corner or the center.

I’ve always sewn corner to corner!

I would recommend using a walking foot if you have one. I might quilt from the center out since you are quilting on the bias and you might get some stretch in the fabrics.
|
I start on either side of a corner, not directly corner to corner.
|
I second the comment on the walking foot.

Tartan: My machine has a built in walking foot which I love so I don't need to worry about it. I have not done machine quilting on anything but very small projects.

I go corner to corner with walking foot.

I do diagonal straight line as a crosshatch, using blue masking as my guide. I start in the center and work to one end then the other. Then go the other way. http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com/2...-tutorial.html

If it's really well-basted, I see no reason why you shouldn't go corner to corner. If you think it may shift, by all means start in the center, quilt an "X" through the whole quilt. Then go side to side after that.

I've done a couple of small quilts that way. On the first one, I started in the center and worked out. Then, I had all those thread ends to tie and bury. That was not fun, so I switched to edge to edge. It worked just fine. I used spray adhesive to sandwich the quilt. I didn't get any puckers on the back.
