I love my Brother. They make several models that both sew and embroidery.

Bernina has machines that do both. I have a 5+ year old Bernina Aurora QE (Quilt & Embroidery) machine. I don't have a lot of "quilt" room with it, but I've done 3 bed size and a baby quilt on my frame with it. It does beautiful embroidery. If you are near a Bernina dealer, find out if they have any "used" machines for sale. You might just score a great deal!

I have one of each....my theory being......
The machine won't wear out so fast by pulling double duty. That is my story and I am sticking to it. |
I would get the new brother dreamweaver embroidery combo with the 11.25" harp, but that is just me, but I also had an interest in the brother isadore or babylock ellisimo as well. The great thing about brothers and babylocks is they are very user friendly and I aparently learned this in a class the other day that their manuals are very well written. One of the janome users in the class was looking at my manual and wishing hers was better written.

I'm the cheapie in the group...I have an older Singer Futura CE-200; cost about $700, has a 5X7 hoop area and a 4X4 and you can also get a slider hoop which is bigger but entails a lot of "figuring" to use it. SingerTexas.com has some good buys...good luck! Also I think some folks have ordered from the various "vac and sew" places...
